RESOLUTIONS
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) met in Bamenda on 5th and 6th June 2004, under the chairmanship of the National Chairman, NI John FRU NDI, to examine issues concerning the party, the national and international scenes and took the following resolutions.
I. ON THE PARTY:
- Considering the Constitution and the Internal Regulations of the SDF;
- Considering the resolutions of the Yaounde 1999 and the Bamenda 2001 Conventions of the Party;
- Considering previous NEC resolutions;
- Considering the report of the Djuombi Sango commission on reconciliation in the West;
- Considering the report of the Nyo’Wakai commission on the SDF Reconciliation Forum;
- Considering the report of the Parliamentary Group on the problem between Hon. Jua and some Mayors of Boyo;
- Considering the different reports on 20th and 26th May 2004 festivities;
- Considering the problems presented to NEC by the delegations of militants from the East and South Provinces on vacancies in their executive committees;
- Considering the reports on the Provincial conference of SDF-USA and on the situation of the party in France;
THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
- Takes note of the efforts of reconciliation in the West;
- Directs the Djoumbi Sango commission to accelerate the process, especially by immediately ensuring the undertaking of the prescribed tours of the structures of the party in the West;
- Accepts the partial report of the Nyo’Wakai commission on the SDF Reconciliation Forum;
- Directs the commission to treat the case of Maidadi and other former members of the SDF in the AFP, with urgency;
- Accepts the request of the commission for the transfer to it, of all on-going disciplinary proceedings in the party that have led to, or are likely to lead to the exclusion of a member from the party;
- Congratulates the Parliamentary Group of the SDF for its efforts to solve the problem between Hon. Jua and some Mayors in Boyo;
- Accepts Barrister Sama’s request to be come part of this reconciliation process;
- Appeals to the protagonists to be more tolerant and more conciliatory, in order to give the reconciliation effort a chance;
- Is pleased with the reports on performance of SDF militants during the festivities of 20th and 26th May 2004;
- Congratulates militants and sympathisers of the SDF for this remarkable performance;
- Congratulates particularly SDF-Germany for their manifestations of 26th May 2004;
- Calls on all officials of the party at all levels, to keep the militants in this state of mobilisation, to get them registered for the up-coming elections;
- On SDF-USA:
• Takes note of the holding of the elective provincial conference on May 22, 2004;
• Congratulates Comrade Marius Tegomoh and other elected members, for their election into the Provincial Executive Committee (PEC);
• Calls on Comrade Tegomoh and his team, to leave no stone unturned, to make the SDF, a mass party in the USA;
• Directs the Nyo’Wakai commission and other relevant departments of NEC to join their efforts to PEC’s, to mobilise, rally and galvanise Cameroonians in the USA into the SDF;
• Congratulates the PEC for its proposals on the computerisation of membership cards; calls on it to complete the proposals with studies on the acquisition of equipment for the production of the cards in Cameroon, by the appropriate departments of the party;
• Once more, reiterates that the production and placement of membership cards, is the exclusive domain of the National Treasurer and the National Financial Secretary ;
• Gives PEC up to the end of 2004 to put a stop to the production of membership cards in the USA;
On SDF France:
• Directs the Nyo’Wakai commission to accelerate the reconciliation process in SDF- France;
• Decides, in conformity with section 18.8 of the constitution of the party, to reorganise SDF-France in November 2004;
• Calls on all the structures of the party in France and all members of the party to stop their wrangling, and work hard towards the success of the conference;
II. ON THE NATIONAL SCENE:
- Considering the recent appointment of members of NEO;
- Considering the by-elections of June 13, 2004;
- Considering the imminent parliamentary session of June 2004;
- Considering the activities of the Coalition on the field;
- Considering the wild rumours concerning the health of the Head of State;
THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
- Takes note of the late appointment of members of NEO;
- Reiterates the call of the SDF and the entire Opposition of Cameroon, for the creation of an independent electoral commission;
- Considers the by-elections and the recompilation of the electoral registers as acid tests of the ability of NEO to play its role;
- Calls on the SDF Parliamentary Group and other MPs of the Opposition, to manage the June session of the National Assembly, to the best interest of struggle for change, at the eve of the up-coming elections;
- Vehemently condemns the flagrant violations of Rights and Freedoms in Cameroon, as testified by the banning of the Grand Rally of the Coalition in Ebolowa on May 22, 2004, by the D.O. of Ebolowa, in violation of law N° 90/055 of 19 December 1990 that lays down regulations governing public meetings and processions;
- Regrets the inertia of government communication with respect to the wild rumours about the health of the Head of State;
- In any circumstance, reiterates the attachment of the SDF to the Constitution of our country.
III. ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE:
- Considering the situation in Iraq, in Côte d’Ivoire and in the Democratic Republic of Congo;
- Considering recent decisions of FIFA;
THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE:
- Salutes all efforts geared towards the normalisation of the situation in Iraq;
- Encourages the UNO and all parties concerned, to redouble their efforts to put an end to the suffering of the people of Iraq;
- Encourages the international community to continue to work hard for the return of peace to Côted’Ivoire and DRC;
- Salutes the grace of FIFA to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon;
- Salutes FIFA for the choice of South Africa as host of World Cup 2010;
- Thanks all those who contributed to these decisions, which bring honour to African football.
