RESOLUTIONS

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) met in Bamenda on 1st and 2nd September 2001 under the Chairmanship of the National Chairman, NI John FRU NDI to examine issues concerning the Party and took the following resolutions:

ON THE PARTY: Considering the Constitution and the Internal Rules and Regulations of the SDF;

- Considering the resolutions of the Yaounde-99 5th National Convention of the SDF;

- Considering previous resolutions of NEC, especially those of 5th August 2001;

- Considering the report of the Bamenda-2001 6th National Convention Organising Committee;

- Considering the Financial Report presented to NEC by the National Treasurer;

- Considering the reports of the various NEC Commission Chairpersons;

- Considering the reports of the Provincial Coordinating Committee for the Centre and the Task Force sent to identify the structures of the Party in the field in the Province;

- Considering the report of the NEC Disciplinary Commission;

- Considering the various deaths registered in the SDF family;

THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE;

- Confirms the holding of the 6th Ordinary National Convention of the SDF in Bamenda on 5th and 6th October 2001;

- Congratulates the Convention Organising Committee for the preparatory work done so far and encourages it to continue to work in the same vein to ensure the success of the Convention;

- Directs the Constitutional & Political Affairs Commission and the Science & Technology Commission to finalise their reports for presentation at the Convention;

- Directs all other NEC Commissions to get their reports ready for adoption at the next NEC meeting before the Convention;

- Congratulates the National Treasurer of the Party and all other financial officers for the clarity of the financial report presented to NEC;

- Is convinced that this clear financial report will put an end to the noises about the so-called opaque financial management in the Party that has been fanned in the press by adversaries of the SDF;

- On the Centre Province:

· Decides, in conformity with Section 18.8 of the Constitution, to reorganize Yaounde I and Yaounde II Electoral Districts; this will be supervised by the Provincial Coordinating Committee and the Task Force presently in the Province;

· Fixes the Provincial Conference of the Centre on 22nd September 2001 in Yaounde to elect a new Provincial Executive Bureau for the Province; this will be supervised by the Provincial Coordinating Committee and the Task Force presently in the Province;

- On Upper Nkam Division:

· Decides, in conformity with Section 18.8 of the Constitution of the Party, to reorganise Bandja and Bafang Rural Electoral Districts; this will be supervised by a NEC Commission composed of:

1) Hon. Ndobegang Michael (Chairman),
2) Mrs. Joe Bakai Gertrude
3) Mr. Yudom Joseph Ivo
4) Mr. Mochiggle Vaniganssen
5) Hon. Tsomelou Jean

· Suspends the activities of the Divisional Coordinator of Upper Nkam in Bandja and Bafang Rural Electoral Districts during the week preceding the Conferences of the Electoral Districts;

· Declares null and void all previous resolutions of NEC related to these two Electoral Districts;

· Warns all members of the SDF against obstructing the implementation of this NEC resolution; such members will face severe sanctions from the Party;

- Warns members and officials of the SDF against putting in place parallel structures of the party in the field; such members will lose their membership of the party under Section 8.2 of the Constitution;

- Announces with sorrow, the death of: 1) Mrs. Khumbah Emefua Asonganyi, sister of the Secretary General of the SDF,
2) The mother of Dr. Leolin Nja-Kwa, Mayor of Douala I Urban Council,
3) The mother-in-law of Mallam Ngu Musa, Elected member of NEC;

- Extends heartfelt condolence to the bereaved families and invites the SDF family in the various localities to show their usual solidarity with the affected families.

The next NEC meeting will hold in Bamenda on 29th September 2001. It will be enlarged to Mayors and Members of Parliament.
