For the second time in less than three months, Merchandise Transporters are on strike in protest against the excessive taxation imposed on them by the Biya regime which is strangulating this important sector of the National economy with its attendant grave consequences on people already living in abject misery caused and sustained by a regime totally insensitive to human suffering. Instead of urgently seeking an appropriate solution to this crucial problem, the CPDM government resorts to futile lie telling.
The SDF expresses its solidarity and total support to Transporters and to all those engaged in the economic life of the nation now crumbling under the heavy burden of taxation which is not only excessive but senseless and inhuman, coming to add to the daily harassment of helpless citizens by unscrupulous agents of a totally corrupt administration and of the so called Forces of Law and Order who behave on the streets of our cities and the roads of the countryside like highway robbers.
If by the 31st of October, 1995, the CPDM government after due negotiations with the concerned parties, has not given satisfaction to the demands of Transporters, the SDF will have no other choice than to call on the Cameroonian People no matter their political leaning to stop all activities on the 1st and 2nd November, 1995 in solidarity with Transporters and all the business community.
This should serve as a warning to the Biya government.
Should the CPDM government still turn a deaf ear to it, the SDF will have to consider taking more drastic measures.
