MESSAGE OF THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF THE
SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC FRONT TO MEMBERS AND
SYMPATHIZERS OF THE SDF
Members and Sympathizers of the SDF,
Fellow Countrymen,
We have made it a habit every time the situation warrants it to speak to you directly, because we are nothing without you, and we assume our responsibilities because you have given us the mandate to speak in your name.
The ever deteriorating political, economic and social climate today compels us to address you more often than before to inform you of the new developments affecting you, your Party, and your country, and to make you understand the reasons behind the decisions we do take in your name.
The coming to power of Mr. Biya in 1982 after 27 long years of autocrasy did raise at the time great hopes and expectations. But alas, those hopes were shortlived because instead of ushering in democracy, the new regime plunged the country into an infernal of cycle ever increasing debilitating disorders : disorder in the management of human resources, disorder in the management of State Affairs, disorder in the management of the relationship with the outside world. Why all this?
It is now evident that it is because those who by chance landed at the helm of the state in 1982 have no idea of what is called the People, not to talk of what is called the Peoples' opinion, no idea of what is called the higher interest of the nation, no idea of what is considered ordinary human relationship.
To them Cameroon is just a milking cow for themselves, their friends, their families, and their foreign accomplices. Any body outside this exclusive cycle should only be subdued or distroyed.
That is why Political opposition born from years ago from the will of the people to live a different life in a society of freedom and justice, is being aggressed on all fronts with the intention of battering it to death.
The difficulties encountered by opposition political parties today, difficulties created artificially by enemies of the people, of democracy, and of Cameroon are ample proof of this fact. There is no passing day nowadays of news that some members of an opposition have either resigned, created a dissident party, or rejoined the party in power as if the will for change which once galvanized that party and its militants had suddenly transformed into a morbit wish for collective suicide.
The truth which you surely know or might guess is that, the enemies of the people and of democracy through intimidation, persecution, repression, corruption and exacerbated tribalism are fighting tooth and nail to destroy patriots and tear apart their organizations just to give the impression that the opposition is incapable of fulfilling its historic mission, so that like in the fifties and sixties, only traitors and sellouts shall be left to speak in the name of Cameroonians and of Cameroon.
In those years it should be recalled, war fare against the freedom fighter in the bush, repression of Nationalist and popular parties, bait of riches and honours used to lure charismatic leaders, and most importantly, disinformation of the people were used to destroy the UPC of Um NYOBE and other National heroes, the Group d'Action National and the ASSALE, the PDC of MBIDA, the KNDP of FONCHA, the Parti Travailliste of EYIDI BEBEY, etc. etc.
Today, just like yesterday while the personal ambitions of some are being overblown, the consciences of others are bought. Disinformation is the order of the day. Blackmail is used by the CPDM regime to destroy our parties and kill the Cameroonian opposition. In the streets, we are met by troops in battle gear as if we were foreign invaders. Within our parties, they is sour division. In Divisional offices and palaces of traditional Chiefs, they are actively putting in place a deadly machinery for massive electoral fraud.
It is now more and more obvious that a machiavelian masterplan is set in motion using State Radio and Television to lie all day long used ironically to present to Cameroonians only those who are enslaving them with their antipatriotic and demagogic activities. To try to hide their dismal failures, they want to make it look as if it is the opposition which is unable to bring about change in the country. While at the same time subjecting that very opposition to severe repression, banning its meetings, rallies, press conferences and any other mass activities!
And to crown it all they subject the population to abject poverty and misery, thus rendering them incapable of fighting for their rights.
Yes, that devilish plan is on and everybody knows. Having lived it since 1960 what disastrous consequences, the success of such a plan can have on the present and future of our country.
The SDF is clearly conscious of the fact. The People have bestowed on it the historic mission to continue and finish the work started by the Great Patriots of Cameroon and their organisations. The SDF is at the same time the shield and the guide of the People.
That is why in the face of the sordid manoeuvres woven against the Oppositon, Democracy and the Nation, the SDF has taken protective measures by expelling from the rangs of its freedom fighters, traitors, sellouts and those who crave for power for the sake of power.
It is the only way to effectively defend our ideal of Fatherland, Greatness of the Cameroonian People, Independence and Sovereignty of Cameroon.
Other measures, were published at their own time. Amongst which the reorganisation of some Provincial Executive Bureaux, the drive to fight electoral fraud of the regime and their accomplices by massive registration and the acquisition of voter's cards so that the ballot paper can truly become "THE TICKET TO POWER OF THE PEOPLE".
SDF is and remains the Party of change.
The Party of the martyrs of Freedom.
The Flag bearer of Patriotism, Genuine Independence and Sovereignty of Cameroon.
The SDF will remain that symbol, thanks to your faithfullness, your support and when the time comes, thanks to your votes.
