PART ONE

P R E A M B L E

Humiliation of Cameroonians, oppression, hypocrisy, confusion, double talk and compromises have necessitated the creation of the SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC FRONT (SDF). Determined to rid the Cameroonian society of all these evils, the FRONT shall also fight relentlessly against social injustice, tribalism, nepotism, corruption, graft, squandamania, clientelism, discrimination and moral decay in Cameroon. The FRONT shall ensure open government in public affairs as well as rehabilitate Parliament and the Judiciary, and further a sense of National belonging in all Cameroonians.

To this end, the SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC FRONT holds the following beliefs, amongst others, as indispensable for the creation of a just society in Cameroon:

  • in true national unity as the only option in creating a political environment for real development;
  • in human dignity and the right to pursue lawfully and freely ends which maximise and sustain individual and group happiness;
  • in the political cohesion of the Cameroonian society as a means of securing the basic needs for all the people, regardless of sectional, tribal, religious, social and linguistic interests;
  • in a free market economy and the private ownership and disposal of property;
  • in freedom under the law and the fundamental human rights;
  • in a participatory democracy as the best means of getting every citizen involved in the political process;
  • in the freedom of association and in a multiparty system;
  • in the sovereignty of the people, self determination and independence;
  • in the separation of powers, the rule of law and in the equality of all citizens before the law.
  • subscribes to the Charters of the Organisation of African Unity (O.A.U.) and the United Nations Organisation (U.N.O);
  • endorses true democracy as the means of enabling the peoples of Cameroon to retrieve the sovereignty of which they have been forcibly deprived;
  • advocates the abolition of unwholesome and oppressive laws, the present political police, the B.M.M. and detention camps, which are instruments of tyranny, in order to ensure a free and just society in Cameroon;
  • affirms its belief and faith in GOD as the Supreme Ruler by whom and through whom all things are possible.

WHEREFORE, the SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC FRONT presents this Manifesto to the Cameroon people to enable them to make their choice.
