Buea SDF Vows ‘Fire For Fire’ In 2007 Elections

The Buea Electoral District of the Social Democratic front, SDF, party has promised to "fight fire for fire" in the 2007 Parliamentary and Council elections if there are any attempts again at rigging.
The vow was taken during a District Exco Conference that held at the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, hall in Campaign Street, Great Soppo, Buea, November 18.
Repeating after the Electoral District Chairman, Barrister Eta Besong Junior, the over 100 members and militants chorused: "We shall not allow any elections to be rigged here in Buea again.
We shall meet fire with fire," after which there was a sustained applause.Referring to the SDF as a cat and the ruling Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, CPDM, as a rat, Eta Besong alluded to the tenure of the ruling party in the Buea Council since the 2002 municipal elections as: "… the cat had simply left the house and the rat has come in and destroyed everything constructed by the cat.
