An organisation aiming to address issues of effective leadership, efficient management, and enhancement of leadership skills in Africa.

Centre for Democracy and Development

The Centre for Democracy and Development is a non-governmental organisation which aims to promote the values of democracy, peace & human rights in Africa and especially in the West African sub-region.

Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa

CODESRIA was established in 1973 as an independent Pan-African research organisation with a primary focus on the social sciences, broadly defined. It is recognised not only as the pioneer African social research organisation but also as the apex non-governmental centre of social knowledge production on the continent.

Democratic Leadership Council

The Democratic Leadership Council is an idea center, catalyst, and national voice for a reform movement that is reshaping American politics by moving it beyond the old left-right debate. Electoral Reform International Services

ERIS, an independent and non-political institute, is a division of the Electoral Reform Society (ERS). Since its foundation in 1884, the Society has worked for the development of democracy, in Britain and abroad, promoting, organising and monitoring elections. The Society was granted Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations in 1983 for all matters relating to balloting.

International Union of Socialist Youth

IUSY is made up of 135 socialist, social democratic and labour youth organisations from 100 countries all over the world. IUSY was founded over 90 years ago, on 24 August 1907. During the two World Wars its activities were suspended. IUSY was re-established under its current name on 30 September 1946. The goal of our International is to put into practice and defend the ideals of democratic socialism.

The "Publish What You Pay" campaign

The "Publish What You Pay" campaign aims to help citizens hold their governments accountable for how these resource-related funds are managed and distributed. George Soros and a coalition of more than 130 NGOs (including the Open Society Institute and the campaign's co-sponsor, Global Witness) place the onus on wealthy countries' governments to require transnational extraction companies to publish net taxes, fees, royalties, and other payments made so civil society can more accurately assess the amount of money misappropriated and lobby for full transparency in local government spending.

The National Democratic Institute

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is a non-profit organisation working to strengthen and expand democracy world-wide. NDI Provides practical assistance to civic and political leaders advancing democratic values, practices and institutions.

The National Endowment for Democracy

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a private, non-profit organization created in 1983 to strengthen democratic institutions around the world through nongovernmental efforts. The Endowment is governed by an independent, non-partisan board of directors. With its annual congressional appropriation, it makes hundreds of grants each year to support pro-democracy groups in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and the former Soviet Union.

The Socialist International

The Socialist International is a non-governmental organisation, with consultative status (Category I) with the United Nations, and works internationally with a large number of other organisations to promote freedom, justice, solidarity, democracy, human rights and peace. It presently groups 143 socialist, social democratic and workers parties world-wide.

Transparency International

Transparency International, is a civil society organisation dedicated to curbing corruption world-wide.

Westminster Foundation for Democracy

Welcome to the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, the UK’s democracy-building foundation. The Foundation funds projects around the world which are aimed at building and strengthening pluralist democracies. It works closely with all the political parties in the Westminster Parliament.

Amnesty International

Amnesty International exists to defend and promote human rights all over the world.

ARTICLE 19

ARTICLE 19, the International Centre Against Censorship, was founded in 1986 to campaign for the promotion and protection freedom of expression. The right to impart and receive information regardless of frontiers is now firmly enshrined in international law, many regional treaties and agreements and the constitutions of a large number of countries. ARTICLE 19 is leading the fight internationally to ensure that censorship and the associated human rights abuses are exposed and challenged.

Global Witness

Global Witness campaigns to achieve real change by challenging established thinking on seemingly intractable global issues. We work to highlight the links between the exploitation of the natural resources and human rights abuses, particularly where the resources such as timber, diamonds and oil are used to fund and perpetuate conflict and corruption.

Human Rights Watch

Human Rights Watch exists to promote, develop and defend human rights of people all over the world.

Inter-governmental Organisations

Inter-Parliamentary Union

The IPU is the international organization of Parliaments of sovereign States (Article 1 of the Statutes of the Inter-Parliamenary Union). It was established in 1889. The Union is the focal point for world-wide parliamentary dialogue and works for peace and co-operation among peoples and for the firm establishment of representative democracy.

The Commonwealth of Nations

The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntary association of 54 independent nation-states dedicated to promoting respect, encouraging trust and friendship and working towards economic prosperity for all its members.

The Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) is one of the main oppostion parties in Côte d'Ivoire and close collaborator of the SDF within the Socialist International.
