Tosam Bernard: Gets high marks for development projects in Belo council

The Belo Rural Council in Boyo division, North West province, has been given a face-lift by its mayor, Tosam Bernard. In less than one year in office, Tosam has realised some 96 development projects. An inspection team from the SDF NEC led by Ade Ngwa, national administrative secretary scored Tosum high after visiting 22 visible projects realised by him.

Apart from clearing the backlog of social insurance dues of the council estimated at 31 million FCFA, Tosam has constructed a council structure to house the three deputy mayors and the future council treasury; renovated the 16-room old council building; constructed sheds for buyam sellams at Belo Three Corners and constructed two kilometres of earth road to the council projects. He has also purchased a new service car for the council, planted trees around council premises, constructed five toilets in Belo market and provided assistance to two government secondary schools.

Tosam’s success in realising these projects is attributed to his policy of team work – working in collaboration with his councillors, the population and the administration.

The ambitious Tosam who is a product of the private sector has promised many more goodies for the SDF-run Belo council.
