> The SDF run Kumbo rural council (KRC) voted 80,948,758 FCFA for the 2001/2002 financial year as against 67,415,808 FCFA for the last financial year. The difference represented an increase of 13,532,949 FCFA in fiscal terms.
Fai Rotum, chairman of the finance committee who presented the budget lauded the steady increase in outlay and praised staff and council for their effort.
In his review of the 2001/2002 budget, Mayenin Amadu, the council's mayor said the council bought a Tipper (for the council) and a Suzuki car for the mayor and repaired a Toyota Hilux that broke down many years back.
Apart from these, he said they also purchased some office equipment and gave financial support for the construction of Ngondzen hall, Tadu Water Catchment and Wailai water project. Assistance was also given to Ngondzen water project, Ndurum football club, Islamic School Kuvlu, among others. He said the council also constructed pit toilets in most markets in the municipality, and built slaughter slaps at Takija and Waikov and constructed a market office at Waikov. At the level of road construction, Mayenin said his council rehabilitated Kishong-Waikov, Kumbo-Sanyar, Waikov-Ndzeru, Ngondzen-Mah, Banten-Mbosha-Sanyar-Mbim and Banten-Takija roads, among others, while bridges were constructed at Dzeng-Yankitari road and Nseh-Mboliv and Nkeng.
The council's envisaged projects for the 2001/2002 financial year, Mayenin said, were purchase of service vehicles, construction of Takija and Waikov markets, acquire more garbage cans and carry on more maintenance work on the roads.
